Officially dubbed the Air Jordan 5 Retro T23, the model features a mostly yellow nubuck upper. Grey is reserved as the main accent, though, black and white also maintain a strong presence. An icy outsole sits below and helps bring out the plastic mesh paneling on the side panel. In place of the 23 embroidery on the side panel is a an outline of the number instead that mimics Japanese writing. Unfortunately, these are a Japan only exclusive celebrating the Tokyo23 tournament. Both the XI IE and the AJ2011QF are slightly altered versions of their flagship predecessor that feature increased ventilation atop a familiar sole design, but the XI takes it a bit further by cutting the height down below the ankle. And despite these little wrinkles, it seems crazy that we’re only now seeing this Concord-style colorway fifteen years after the originals, but that just goes to prove that Jordan Brand has a huge variety of options on deck at any moment. Nike released the V-Series in 1985, which included the Nike Vengeance, Nike Venture, and the Nike Vortex. All three models are very similar and sport a nylon upper with suede overlays, Air unit in the heel, and a rubber outsole. It nice to see that Nike brought the V-Series back, and they still have the same design that made them popular in the mid 80s.

It’s hard to imagine Jordan Brand doing away with the modular technology (interchangeable cushioning midsoles) they’ve been clamoring about since the official unveiling of the new Legacy model … but If these are in fact a new version of the 2011 then it must be so. The beautifully (handcrafted) leather uppers have also been thrown out and in its place sit a synthetic upper throughout.
